Comic Relief
In 2010 the Peter Jones Foundation pledged its support to a Comic Relief programme in Africa’s biggest slum, Kibera in Kenya. In November 2011 Peter travelled to the region to see for himself the work that had been done with the Foundation’s financial support.
The money the Foundation donated has been crucial to carrying out a number of important initiatives including:
Providing life skills training to primary and secondary school children,
Promoting continuous primary and secondary education through advocacy and social justice,
Improving opportunities for Kibera’s current generation of young people by improving their standard of living, particularly through education.
A library was opened in November 2011 and is now in full and constant use providing a much needed quiet space for children to study and read. This is already having a tremendous impact on the children with parents and teachers reporting.
