"I worked as hard as I possibly could at the Academy and was always fascinated by and enthusiastic about every activity on the course."

“I heard about the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy from my sister and enrolled after finishing my A Levels. I wanted to join because it was a year-long course and would therefore be a stepping stone to university. I worked as hard as I possibly could at the Academy and was always fascinated by and enthusiastic about every activity on the course, which helped me get the most out of my time there.

I began my handmade jewellery business by selling some of my pieces online – to test the waters, so to speak. Going to Grant Thornton for my work placement really helped me gain essential financial knowledge and IT skills, including how to work with spreadsheets.

I have developed my business over the last year and now have clients that include senior managers at my college, as well as staff from the Europe Arab Bank.

As a result of my achievements on the course, I was one of the finalists for the National Entrepreneur of the Year award. The highlight of the year for me was pitching to Peter Jones CBE, Alice Barnard – CEO of the Peter Jones Foundation – and other professionals at the final for these awards. It was extremely rewarding and exciting to have my ideas heard by some of the most experienced and business-savvy people in the country.”
