“It felt like an entirely new chapter of my life and, just as I expected, the course was amazing.”

“Being the person that I am, it was hard for me to work well in the mainstream school system, even when studying subjects that I was interested in, like business. I couldn’t understand why I was being trained to pass a test in things that were not going to help me properly – why I wasn’t being taught the fundamentals, such as business plans, accounts and patenting. It got to the point that I just wasn’t enjoying being at college, and it was then that I saw an advert for the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy.

It was partially down to a dare on my mother’s part that I even plucked up the courage to apply. I was at a point in my life where I didn’t truly believe in my potential , but my mother’s dare encouraged me to do what I wouldn’t have had the guts to do otherwise.

I was 16 when I applied and to my amazement I got accepted to the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy at Amersham and Wycombe College. It felt like an entirely new chapter of my life and, just as I expected, the course was amazing – our first teamwork challenge was navigating with a team outdoors! I loved both how interactive and informative it was; it was giving us the opportunity to acquire important skills by actually practising them.

My journey through the Academy was a major turning point for me. I learnt so much and my tutors really knew how to get the most out of me. I have never felt as welcome as I was made to feel on the course. Since graduating, my life has changed. I have managed to set up three businesses, one of which is my own.”
