"Quitting my A-Levels to pursue the course was a perfect decision. I am now National Entrepreneur of the Year 2013."
“I decided to apply for the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy because I was convinced that the course would enable me to acquire the new skills that would help me run a business and prepare me for life as an entrepreneur. I have learned a tremendous amount whilst being on the course and set up Harry Day Tailoring, a company which provides well-fitting suits for young people, combining a high-fashion fit with a high street fashion price.
The year I spent at the Academy was the best year of my life. The opportunities presented to learn and develop as a person were hugely significant and accelerated my growth from a normal 17 year old teenage lad into a confident and ambitious young entrepreneur. The year ended on a massive high, when all the hard work paid off and I was announced as National Entrepreneur of the Year by Peter Jones CBE and a panel of business experts at the annual Peter Jones Enterprise Academy graduation ceremony where HRH The Duke of York, KG, Patron of the Peter Jones Foundation, was in attendance.
My four week work placement was at an automation part seller business where I was tasked to help lay down the foundations for them to expand into brand new markets. This helped me to learn about a whole new industry, as well as about supply chain management and alternative company cultures.
One of the highlights of the placement was the realisation that I could effectively balance my time between different high pressure environments, whilst learning how to cope with long hours.
Newly graduated, I am now spending my time taking my business to the next level. I have started blogging, offering young people tips and advice about how best to get suited and booted.”
