PJEA graduate Jessica Leach: Young Entrepreneur to Watch

We are delighted to share the news that Peter Jones Enterprise Academy graduate Jessica Leach has been named one of 2017’s Young Entrepreneurs to Watch by Startups.co.uk

Jessica’s business, the Hair Bears, is described as a start-up that is “as much about helping people as it is about generating revenue.”

The Hair Bears is a mobile hairdressing service that visits care homes, hospitals and private homes. It uses sensory therapy and distraction techniques to reduce the stress of hair-cutting and styling for children and adults with autism and additional needs.

In the future, the business is looking to equip high street salons with the skills needed to provide a similar service. Jessica plans to give each successfully trained salon a sticker to certify that they’re autism and additional needs friendly. She says:

“In five years’ time, we hope there will be stickers all over the country – we want to shake up the whole hairdressing industry!”

The Young Entrepreneurs to Watch feature is an annual list of Britain’s most promising entrepreneurs aged 25 and under. Just 20 talented entrepreneurs were featured this year, all selected for their ambitious, exciting and unique businesses.

Other entrepreneurs on the list included Josh Valman, whose business RPD International is rumoured to be worth £5 million, and the founders of KOMPAS app, which lists Deutshe Bank, Cisco and Barclays on its advisory board.

It is a fantastic achievement to be selected and we look forward to following Jessica’s entrepreneurial journey in the years to come!
