Hundreds of students from Peter Jones Enterprise Academies across the country came together to celebrate their graduation at a special ceremony held at Freemasons’ Hall in London.
The esteemed guest at this years’ graduation was the Patron of the Peter Jones Foundation, HRH Duke of York KG, who presented award winning students with their trophies and spoke about their achievements over the last year.
Peter Jones CBE commented: “Every year I am more and more impressed by the confidence, dedication and passion shown by our students. I launched the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy in 2009 to give young entrepreneurs the skills and opportunities to pursue a worthwhile and rewarding career.
National Entrepreneur of the Year
Graduation also saw the presentation of the most prestigious award available to graduating students, the National Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The culmination of a three-month process, the finalists were chosen from an extensive pool of candidates who had to submit detailed business and financial plans outlining their ideas, their progress to date and their plans for the future.
Jack Brookes, 18, from Dudley College, was awarded the title by Peter Jones CBE for turning his passion for enterprise into a business that offers bespoke services in aerial photography, videography, surveying, inspection and security in a high demand market, using professional drones.
Jack’s prize is £5,000 worth of investment into his business, Swiftshot Airborne Service.
On winning the award, Jack said: “Wow, I can’t believe I’ve won! Just having pitched to Peter Jones was enough to make me feel proud of my achievements, but to know that he believes in me and my business means the world to me.
“Pitching in front of the amazing panel at my age, 18, was a great opportunity, as it’s the only one in the country to provide this for people my age. I believe that every young person wanting to be an entrepreneur should go to the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy”
Jack’s business idea was crowned the winner ahead of five other student entrepreneur finalists from across the UK. His pitch was praised by Peter Jones CBE and the judging panel of impressive business leaders.
Peter Jones Foundation CEO Jonny Sobczyk, who was on the judging panel with Peter Jones, said: “The competition was tough, as Jack was up against a very talented pool of young entrepreneurs who all delivered outstanding pitches, but we are delighted that Jack has won the top award. His business plan, attitude and personality really impressed the judging panel.”
As National Entrepreneur of the Year Jack Brookes will also become the lead brand ambassador for the Academy for the duration of his title over the next year.
