Established in 2009, the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy set out to be a catalyst for cultural change by bringing the boardroom into the classroom.
Founded on a philosophy of ‘learning by doing’, the Academy aims to equip future generations of entrepreneurs with the skills and the mindset to run their own businesses which will ultimately support the future of the British economy.
The Academy endeavours to foster a society of entrepreneurially-minded individuals who contribute a measurable, positive impact to the British economy and firmly establish the UK as a global leader in entrepreneurship.
The Academy’s mission is to:
- Identify and fill gaps in enterprise education provision,
- Build and nurture partnerships with stakeholders and providers in all regions across the country in order to improve the level of enterprise education which is provided in the UK,
- Have a high impact on all individuals for whom learning enterprising skills could be a life-enhancing or life-changing experience.
In January 2009 Peter Jones CBE unveiled a pathfinder ‘pilot’ course for a small group of students, which then paved the way for the first full academic year course developed in conjunction with Pearson in September 2009 at our Amersham and Manchester Academies. The Academy then quickly expanded and is now working with around 30 educational providers nationwide who teach courses in enterprise and entrepreneurship, which include BTEC Level 2 in Understanding Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, BTEC Level 3 in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship and an Adult Short Course in Enterprise.
Every year, the Foundation hosts the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy Graduation Ceremony where all Academy students from across the country have the opportunity to meet Peter Jones CBE on stage and receive their qualification. Not only does the event celebrate all of the students graduating but it includes a series of Academy awards, including the much sought after accolade of National Entrepreneur of the Year!
